what's happening on that show? Tonight, we had the vampires have a werewolf battle in a cage, with two very CG werewolves... And Josh inexplicably winning. A guy who was watching IMed me with "did we miss something?" |

| Posted this to another forum, but am adding it here. It's about the BBC original, and contains spoilers for the Series 3 finale. I'll hide the spoilers. - Quote :
- So,
- Spoiler:
with the departure of Aidan Turner from the series, a LOT of fans are saying how the show has lost its focus.
Which is?
"It's about a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost who live together!- Spoiler:
With Mitchell gone, it's lost its focus!"
Really?
"Yep! So I'm going to stop watching."
Okay, miss out on some good TV, because that's not the point of the series. It was the premise for the first three series. (Well, the third has two werewolves.)
- Spoiler:
The show has evolved its storyline over the past three years, adding Nina, and now good-bye to Mitchell. The premise in Series 4 will be very different from the previous three. I'm feeling that having a new vampire move in would be a wrong direction for the show. Especially since Mitchell says that vampires, by nature, want to feed and will kill, and their lives are not worth all of the ones they will eventually end. So, it has been established that a vampire who has killed will eventually kill again and again. (Adam might be an exception.)
With Mitchell, I felt his story arc was complete. There weren't a lot of storylines they could do that wouldn't feel forced or re-treaded. I loved the character, he was amazing! But in the end, he couldn't stay.
So, what is the point of Being Human?
Do I have to say it?
Being human.
It's always been about embracing humanity and all it means. Hellos, good-byes, death, sacrifice, love. It's just chosen the unique way to use supernatural characters to demonstrate it.
That's the point of Being Human, not the dynamic of the main characters. |

Russell Tovey is leaving Being Human. Seriously, without him and Aidan Turner, I don't see the show lasting much longer, unless the new cast members they've announced (new vampire character, Michael Socha's Tom the werewolf will be back, and Craig Roberts will at least reappear at some point) really step it up. |

| Well, series four started filming in September, so it's likely that George is there (at least) for all of the fourth series. I really wonder, though, if Toby Whithouse (series creator) shouldn't consider packing it in after this, or at least tying up the storylines with a final special or something. Guess we'll have to wait and see what the reaction is to the new vampire character.
Will feel strange without George. Russell is the only actor who so far appeared in every episode (as the vampire and ghost were recast after the pilot). |

Just saw Russell in Sherlock(and being threatened by The Hounds of Baskerville, how ironic). I still haven't seen all of Series 2 yet.....need to catch up. |

Part of the reason why I really liked the episode was I starting out thinking that way...and as I watched it I came to care more and more about both of them and actually found it believable in the end. Also, I like Hal more each week...he may just be my favorite vampire character we've had on the show. |

| I quit watching the SyFy version (got up to Season 2, episode 6). There is little humor, it's dark and grim and revels in that. Also, the supernatural trio are just people who happen to share a home rather than actually friends. That's just not my type of show. The SyFy show would never have scenes like the one where George and Mitchell give Annie a card on the day she would have been married, or that scene in Series 4 where - Spoiler:
Annie and Hal surprise Tom with his first birthday cake.
It's these little lighthearted moments of these supernatural characters doing extremely human things that make me prefer the UK original. They balance out the really dark moments. |

It's too bad, I wish it wouldn't happen Alex isn't that interesting yet, you're right. Hopefully she'll develop further. Of course..whether she becomes more interesting or not, though, nobody could ever truly replace our Annie

| This is still one of the boldest shows on televsion. - Spoiler:
The finale saw the last member of the original cast leave the show and also, she killed a baby.
Looking forward to Series 5. - Spoiler:
Tom and Hal have proved to be great characters, and while I'm not a fan of Alex, I do have to admit, she has potential. Plus, I wanna know more about the guys in grey who clean up after supernaturals.

I thought it was fantastic, for the most part. I'm fine with Alex at this point, they've put together a reasonably likable new cast, and you're right...potential is there.
I'm ok with Annie not having a goodbye scene with the group...you can't expect everyone to have a proper goodbye scene in the first place, but....NO MENTION of her in the final scene? I would have liked one. Also...are we supposed to forget that Annie already took care of her 'unfinished business' in series 1? In this episode, when she was asked what hers is, she didn't know.
Do we know there'll definitely be a series 5 at all?

| There will be a series 5! - Spoiler:
It seems that Annie's unfinished business was reset when she came back from purgatory at the beginning of Series 3. However, in a behind the scenes video, they indicate that this was her unfinished business all along.
