Great story! Agreed with the above, I favour this over
The Daleks. Very creepy! Would have benefited from being shorter but it's forgiven. The props, sets and on-location scenes make this serial fantastic and much more believable than some other stories from this era (and considering how small their budgets were, they did a brilliant job). It adds a greater sense of realism to the story.
What also adds realism to the story is the clear and unsubtle Nazi and Holocaust imagery; you can see the Holocaust parallels in this story and it reminds you that things like this
could happen in real life, things like this
DID happen. This story really makes you see the Daleks for the monsters they are. Of course, it doesn't make you hate the Daleks, because clearly it's fictional and not as graphical, but you get my point.
And of course, the legendary farewell to Susan is great. Not only is it well-performed on Hartnell's part but you can see genuine emotion there. Makes it all the more sadder.
5 out of 5 from me.
