Space 1999 on Blu ray!!!

Well check out the link below and you can pre-order Space 1999 season one on Blu-Ray!
I am very surprised to read about this, would anyone ever think it would make it to Blu?

I already own the previous standard release, but this might be a rare time to double dip, depending on reviews.
Anyone else think they might go for this package?

Initially, I was going to pass on it (since I have all the dvds too), but then I read the tech article on what they are doing for the restoration and transfer- now I am going to get them.

That was the first Sci fi series I ever watched on tv... I still remember getting mad my parents made me go to a stairwell xmas party that santa claus was going to be at and I was going to miss 1999 because of it.

Rewatching the series when the dvds came out... I found out just how much I liked the first season with all the horror stories they had. 2nd season is painful for me when they changed the format to more of a Star Trek actioner, and got rid of most of the cast with no on screen explanation. Only saving grace for me was that the new uniforms looked a lot better, and I really did like Maya's chemistry with Tony (almost straight out of a magical girlfriend anime).

I wonder if they are going to put in the final message from Alpha that they filmed for the convention held in 1999 for the show. For the regular dvds, I think you had to buy an extra disc direct from A and E that had it on it. Be nice if they asked some cast for commentary, but I get the impression it's just going to be a port over to blu ray with no extras.

Pre-ordered this from WHONA - who actually has the best price offered (thanks WHONA!). Cannot wait to receive this!

Space Precinct is coming to DVD!!!!

This is the RARE sci fi Gerry Anderson series that most Americans have NEVER seen, much less heard of! We will be carrying it!!!

Opening Credits for Space Precint, if you've never heard of it...

I was never able to get into Space Precint. It seemed very contrived to me.

Love 1999 when I was a kid, though.

I heard of the show, but never saw it. I remember his Starlog columns where he discussed it.

I loved Space Precinct! It started off on Sunday afternoons, but pretty quickly got relegated to the early AM hour timeslot; I guess it wasn't doing so well. Even though I enjoyed it, I agree with Calixar that it was very contrived. My favorite aspect of the show was Jane's friendship with Tookie, which sort of reminded me of Alien Nation. There was one episode where Jane inadvertently hurt Tookie's feelings, and it was very sweet how apologetic Jane was, and how it was a really big character crisis for her, showing how much her friendship with Tookie meant to her. My favorite commentary on Space Precinct was from someone in the letters column in Starlog, who imagined the producers of Space Precinct saying "Hey, we've got a 10 million dollar budget! Let's spend it all on rubber masks!"

I liked Space Precinct as well... he just knows how to crash his ship models in his series

I never got to see the finale... the last ep I remember seeing was The Fire Within. Definitely getting these on dvd at some point.

Yeah... little thin, plastic discs! I was thinking I remembered something like that, but was unsure. I also had a Star Trek phaser that fired those.

There was also the Dinky Toys Enterprise that shot those discs.
