Jason Wolfson started building with Lego since the age of 5 and fell in love with Doctor Who at the age of 7 or 8. He has a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and is known affectionately as Dr. W. When he moved to Massachusetts after his post graduate studies he joined NELUG, (New England Lego Users Group) It was around then he started to build his large TARDIS, 1st Generation of Lego Dalek mini-figures, Bessie, and some characters from Doctor Who.

When he moved to Northern Virginia in 2009, he joined the local LUG (Lego User Group) in the area and WAMALUG (Washington Metro Area Lego User Group). Since then he has participated in BrickFair, the largest Lego Convention on the east coast every year and has won 4 official trophies and helped run events for it virtually every year. Most of his creations have been on display there at some point. In 2014, he became a part of and spoke in the documentary called "A Lego Brickumentary", where his large Dalek model can be seen in the background.

Dr. W will be joining us at Doctoberfest this year as another one of our Special Guests.   He will be doing a Panel where he will speak of his passion for Legos and Doctor Who.  Some of his creations will be on display in the Main Hall and some will be for sale. Alena Van Arendonk has been cosplaying for over two decades with her group “…And Sewing Is Half The Battle!”, an Indiana-based cosplay team that has garnered more than 50 awards for their costumes and performances at events around the United States. As an entirely self-taught seamstress and craftsman, Alena enjoys helping novice cosplayers improve their craft through workshops and seminars. She also provides professional costuming and SFX makeup work for film, theatre, and museums. When she's not making costumes, Alena juggles the hats of actress, author, artist, historic preservationist, gamer, and fangirl.

Alena will be joining us at Doctoberfest as one of our Special Guests in the Cosplay Q&A panel.




Troika Brodsky is a US-based collector and curator of the Sonic Screwdriver Archive, a repository of production-made materials related to the fictional tool first introduced in Doctor Who in 1968 that includes screen-used props, original concept art, prototypes, and more. Artifacts from the archive are currently on display as part of the “Madman With A Box” exhibition running through the end of the year at the Saint Louis Science Center.
