Rory appreciation!

Rory had some of the best bits in The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon. We joked in chat the other day that the Doctor and Rory should ditch Amy and travel throughout time and space in the ultimate bachelor pad! That would be awsome! Just as couple of blokes having fun and getting into trouble.

I daresay Rory just may become the next "Harry Sullivan", the male companion just about everyone likes and with whom you wouldn't mind "sharing a 'pint'". Now things did go awry, but the Doctor actually entrusted Rory to assist in repairs during "Time and Space". (I can't remember, did Mickey help out in that regard?) He's really getting some great moments, both comedic and dramatic. I particularly liked the bit when he breaks the parabolic dish from the lunar landing module. I can so easily imagine poor ol' Harry pulling something like that.

I also like the idea Rory has two sets of memories, one of some twenty odd years, growing up with Amy, falling in love and getting married. But he also has another set, again growing up and falling for Amy, but then traveling with the Doctor, "dying", being "reborn" as an Auton construct and then "living" some 2000+ years guarding the Pandorica. I wondered how he might perceive those seemingly conflicting "histories", but "Day of the Moon" partially addressed the issue. Seems the (what I'll call the "Series 5") memories reside primarily within his subconscious, only accessed when he really concentrates. I figure that's the only way it would work without him going totally insane.

Mickey was very useful to the Doctor in other regards in Aliens of London/World War Three with his computer skills, Boomtown and School Reunion as an extra hand, and Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel , and Army of Ghosts/Doomsday as an infiltrator. I believe that the Doctor couldn't have done these without him. Cheers to "Mickey the Idiot!" More than just the Tin Dog.

Glad you like it. When OutPost Gallifrey was still active, someone pointed out the female version and from there I discovered the male line-up. I figured someone here would discover the ladies soon enough.
