DOCTOBERFEST 2024: INFILTRATE (October 19, 2024)

Brandon Peters is the multi-award winning podcaster and host/producer of The Brandon Peters Show as well as an ambassador for podcasting for the state of Indiana as a member of INPodcasting. He is thrilled to be back for another Doctoberfest; recording interviews with guests, attendees and showcasing the joys of the greatest festival across all of time and relative dimension in space for Who North America. Brandon and his work have been featured in such trades as Forbes, The AV Club and The Saturday Evening Post. A podcasting veteran for 12 years, he serves as the Programmer/Emcee for the Live Podcast Stage and as Commissioner of the Podcast Awards for the pop culture convention PopCon and has appeared at HEAR Now: The Audio Fiction and Arts Festival, Days Of The Dead and Starbase Indy among many other conventions/events.

Kathryn Sullivan writes young adult science fiction and fantasy, including fantasy novel THE CRYSTAL THRONE and short story collection AGENTS, ADEPTS & APPRENTICES. Her Doctor Who-related works include an essay in the Hugo winning CHICKS DIG TIME LORDS and essays in CHILDREN OF TIME: COMPANIONS OF DOCTOR WHO, OUTSIDE IN: 160 NEW PERSPECTIVES ON 160 DOCTOR WHO STORIES BY 160 WRITERS and OUTSIDE IN REGENERATES. She also has reviews in the Star Trek-related OUTSIDE IN BOLDLY GOES and OUTSIDE IN MAKES IT SO and the X-Files related OUTSIDE IN TRUSTS NO ONE. She is owned by a large cockatoo, who graciously allows her to write about other animals, as well as birdlike aliens. Kathryn lives in Winona, MN, where the river bluffs along the Mississippi River double as cliffs on alien planets or the deep mysterious forests in a magical world.

Nick Seidler is a science fiction and game writer, who has contributed to various Doctor Who projects such as "Red White and Who: The Story of Doctor Who in America", "Outside In 2", and "Outside In Regenerates." He is involved in various Doctor Who projects such as the Earthbound TimeLords Academic Doctor Who site, the Missing Scripts Projects, The Doctor Who Fanzine Preservation Project, and the DDWRPG Role-Playing Game fanzine. He is also the founder of Zepo Publishing, releasing their first book at Doctorberfest!

John Lavalie is a librarian in the Chicago suburbs and is the co-creator of epguides.com and BroaDWcast. He is also the curator of the Doctor Who Cuttings Archive

Libby Shea is a co-author of "How to Celebrate Your Fandom" which is getting released at Doctorberfest 2024. She has contributed to the books "Outside In Takes a Stab" and "Red, White and Who". She is an avid role-player and Game Master, and has run the game rooms at the Chicago TARDIS and Console Room Conventions. She also runs games and presents seminars at GenCon.

Mark C. Dooley is the creator of the comic book and Facebook online comic strip, THE ACTUAL, SEMI-TRUE ADVENTURES OF MARK AND DEE. Along with his wife Deena, Mark looks back on his rise as a comic book fan and science-fiction enthusiast from childhood to his current stature as an up and coming comic creator. He spent more than two decades as the leader of The Whoosier Network, Indiana's Doctor Who and Sci-Fi Connection before retiring in 2017. He'll be set up at Doctoberfest with many of his new comics and will autograph all his books!

Robert Warnock is a co-author of “Red White and Who” for ATB Publishing. He is also a co-author of “How to Celebrate Your Fandom,” which is the first release for Zepo Publishing. He has written music for Chicago TARDIS for the past 10 years. In addition, he released an album in 2022 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo missions entitled “The Greatest Adventure.”

Steven Warren Hill is the author of two books on classic horror films ("Silver Scream Vols. 1 and 2") and he led the writing team on "Red White and Who" for ATB Publishing. He is the owner and chief administrator of Gallifrey Base, the largest online forum for "Doctor Who" fans, and the program director and emcee for Chicago TARDIS, an annual "Doctor Who" event. Nicholas Krohn has been involved in the arts for more than thirty years as an actor, writer, director, sound designer and occasional foley artist for stage, film and audio dramas. He has written several stories for The Doctor Who Project (including “Moondust” and “The Hope of Midwinter’s Eve”). His writing has also been recognized at the Hear / Now Festival where his audio comedy series “Back Issues” was honored as a Gold Tier Selection in 2020. Returning to Doctoberfest, Larry VanMersbergen, who will be delivering a panel on "A Living History of Dr. Who Books from the Classic Era 1964-96"

Books represent the largest output in Dr. Who merchandise. Many Books from 1964-1979 were never sold or introduced in the USA. Some books didn't begin distribution until 1984. This will allow you to see some of the books we never got in our stores up close and learn about how they came about.

Well-crafted stories are the heart of any audio production. Words and language help to paint a visual picture through the audience’s imagination.

Audio theatre may be liberating for a writer because unlike television and film, a writer is only limited by their imagination. One may set their production in the Crab Nebula on an intergalactic spaceship or in the more intimate environment of a kitchen where a mother and son carry on a conversation washing dishes – it all comes down to the specificity and making the experience personal from your own experiences.

That said, like any form of writing there are limitations and it is good to know those limitations to help you create a producible production.

We will explore the process of crafting a logline, develop character profiles, a beat sheet, and breakdown the scriptwriting format for audio theatre as developed by the BBC.

What kid doesn't love a balloon animal, a sword, or a funny hat? D and D Balloon Twisters return to Doctoberfest for a few hours of free fun, but as always, they appreciate the tips!

Russell McGee is a multi-award-winning writer/director/producer, an Audie Award Finalist, and Emmy nominated writer. Russell received his Master’s in TV/Film Production at Indiana University, in 2013, and his Bachelors in Theatre with a creative writing minor from Indiana State University, in 2001. He works as a Producer/Director at WTIU/WFIU, teaches Screenwriting and Sound Design at Indiana University, has produced Doctor Who segments for Reeltime Pictures, written multiple Doctor Who short stories including a Subscriber Short Trip, and was a sound designer for Big Finish Productions LTD on their Doctor Who full-cast audio plays. He also is the Vice President of the National Audio Theatre Festivals and the Festival Director for the Hear Now Festival. More recently he had the pleasure of directing Barbara Rosenblat and Sophie Aldred in his full-cast audio adaptation of Florence Engel Randall’s A WATCHER IN THE WOODS.
