| I have an idea for the best sitcom ever. It would involve many members of the classic Who series. Most of which would be living in the same apartment building (or flat).
There would be the light-bickering married couple played by Janet Fielding and Peter Davison. Lots of reading the morning paper scenes. And they would have a teenage son, whom Janet would always slap upside the head. "What were you thinking?"
Across the way would be a single character played by Matthew Waterhouse. He's a more or less conservative guy looking for Mrs. Right, but never seems to find her. He is often seen visiting Janet and Peter in their apartment, seeking advice. Janet loves to dish it out. Peter rolls his eyes. And Matthew soaks it up naively.
Then there's the landlord and grumpy grandfather figure played by Colin Baker. Sophie Aldred lives with him either as his eldest daughter or possibly even his wife. Both have humorous possibilities.
Down at the local cafe, we have the main server/attendant played by Nicola Bryant. Janet frequents this establishment and they both chat it up about life, men, etc.
Sarah Sutton is a frequent customer at the cafe. There's some sort of rivalry between Janet and Sarah, going many years back. Biting humor and great comebacks.
I don't know what this show would be called, but it would have an atmosphere similar to Friends. I'm not saying it would be like Friends, it would just have that type of vibe to it. When you turn it on, you know exactly what to expect.
One thing this show would definitely require is a laughtrack. It would add so much. It's perfect. |
