Hmmm, not sure what to think... Does seem a bit anti-climactic and bland, but it does look good on him. I think I'll probably like it more once we've seen him in action; I didn't like Smith's costume when we first saw it, but once we were familiar with his Doctor's personality, it made sense and worked. So I'm sure this will grow on me! To be honest, the more I look at it now, the more I like it.

Reminds me of Jon Pertwee. With that red lining and all.

A Hartnellian scarf would not be out of place, in somewhat muted blues.

Im ok with it, I like the top half, the shirt, sweater-vest (cardigan), the jacket.... very Pertwee'ish but the trousers and shoes just dont work with it for me. I'm sure it will grow on me and this is just the very first image, so we will have to see what happens over the new months....

Not blown away but it's not going to be the costume that defines him; really looking forward to series 8!!!

I love it. Simple, elegant and not quite as outlandish as previous, but not as far off the mark as 9's.

Moffat has also said that his personality will be like a cross between the 4th and 9th Doctors. So we may indeed see all sorts of different aspects of previous Doctors in this incarnation, but with his own flavours added to the mix, too, of course!

I did think his casting was similar to Pertwee. A guy who doesn't look young, but is agile enough to kick your butt.

Maybe we'll see some Venusian Karate!

I think it's spectacular! I like that they've gone a bit back to "normal clothes" after the 7b 11 outfit veered a bit more into costume. The pop of color is enough to make it unique, and let's be honest... his face is Doctorish enough, he doesn't need any quirky accents, really.

I do hope they ditch the sonic for a few years. It would be nice for him to not just wave a sonic at something and get out of an otherwise sticky situation.

Time for the Dr. to use his personality, hypnotism, string and a toothbrush to save the universe.

Bring back a doctor that can fight... the 1st and 3rd Doctors enjoyed a scrap.

Yeah. I'd be fine if the Sonic took a backseat for a year or two. Day seemed to indicate Moffat at least understood how absolutely silly the Sonic has become.
