I know right? Love that flick...cannot stand the remake.

Probably the biggest gap in quality between the original and remake EVER. I didn't even see the remake out of spite.

I've never seen the remake because I fail to see the need for one. It's like remaking The Maltese Falcon (...again) or Casablanca. Why?

The way Hollywood has been this past decade, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they tried it.

I think horror has suffered the worst of the 'remake' era. Most of the major horror flicks from the 70s and 80s have gotten the treatment. The last bastion still standing for me: The Exorcist. My favorite horror film of all time, and no remake. I thought all hope was lost a few years ago, but whoever was going to try and remake it backed out.
