My themes pretty much stay constant. I just try to throw in some variability alongside my mainstay choices within the themes so I'm not watching the exact same lineup every year.
Usually I go with vampires, werewolves, zombies, anthology, occult, ghost/ haunted house, and some crossovers- like horror/sci fi, horror comedy, etc.
And I always watch all the Universal monster films.
Last year I really changed it up and did mostly horror tv. This time around, just films.
I think the letters X and Y are gonna be my downfall. A friend is doing an "Around The World" theme where he views a horror movie from a different country every day for the entire month. I've yet to come up with any themes that impressive. |

| Cabin in the Woods. 9/10. Great film. Very funny, well written, endlessly quotable. Loved the Hellraiser reference. Also, Mer-Man FTW. Basically, it gave me a 'husband bulge'. |

I like the first 1/3, more of a horror, with the mystery and tense feel...then when it gets to the mutants and we fully see them, I lose interest.

They had some good atmosphere and creep going there... then the mutants kill it. And about halfway through I figured out what had really happened to the ship, so the rest of the film didn't have much to offer. Only reason I have it is a friend of mine got the blu for me a couple of Christmas' ago. Never watched it until now. Just that one time at the theater. |

Beyond Re-Animator I was so looking forward to them doing House of Re-animator. Sigh. Have you ever read the original serial story: Herbert West- Reanimator? |

I count it as horror. |

| I've read Herbert West: Re-Animator. It's cool but different from the movie. I liked Pandorum. It wasn't one of my favorites, but I definitely didn't hate it. |

| I liked Pandorum too. Kind of reminded me of Event Horizon. |

I am supremely bummed that House of Re-Animator fell through. It would have been so cool to have Stuart Gordon direct Combs as West again. I do like From Beyond (with Combs and Crampton) and Dagon, both directed by Gordon. The Masters of Horror episode 'The Black Cat' was excellent IMO, with Combs as Edgar Allan Poe. I haven't read Herbert West, Re-Animator (yet). |

| 10/3 -- Curse of the Voodoo aka Voodoo Blood Death
This one came in a "British Horror" box set with Tower of Evil, Inseminoid and Horror Hospital. Not exactly sure why it was chosen for the set...it's easily the worst of the four. Terrible flick. |

This. The Mutants killed the movie. I just finished watching VIRUS (1999). A highly underrated movie, in my opinion. |

| Its interesting how some of HPL's stories were adapted into full length movies, yet the original stories were very short, like Unnamable and From Beyond.
My fav HPL based movies: Reanimator, Unnamable, and The Resurrected |

If you can track down a copy, another good one is the HBO movie Cast a Deadly Spell. The movie I have lined up for tomorrow has a bit of HPL vibe too. More on that Friday |

I've seen that! I'd say it was pretty good. |

I've seen that! I'd say it was pretty good. And one of the other reasons I like it is that the main character is played by Fred Ward. Loved him in Remo Williams |
