Okay, so... did I miss something?

Why is Jack in the 21st century? Is it an as-yet-to-be-answered mystery?

It's clear he will be showing up in Who again... is there going to be another series of Torchwood (and will Jack be back in it)?

Have the posters here seen the 1st series of Torcwood yet?

I wouldn't want to inadvertantly post any spoilers.

@Captain Jack:

Seems to be about half and half. If you want to be safe in a thread where people aren't expecting spoilers, just put the really big stuff in white text. Still readable, but it should keep people from accidentally reading something they didn't mean to.

Spoilers! Whoohoo!

I've seen it. It seemed a touch forced... not enough explanation for the difference between Torchwood of Who and the tiny, freelance group of the same name in Wales, but I enjoyed it.

As a team they're a bit naff. Gwen aside, Jack should have sacked them ages ago.

I, for one, like the group dynamic among the Torchwood Cardiff team.
They are identifiable people with personal agendas and each is harboring secrets from the others and are easily prone to one of the seven deadly sins.
They ironically are the last people who should be in a position of such importance but due to their outsider status they are ideally psychologically suited for the task.

I liked it overall, but I wish they had included more of the story of Torchwood itself, as Calixar said above. I think they'll be able to make a more cohesive series this year, now that they've had their "breaking in" period.

Pretty much what I think.

The show itself... I loved it. There were a couple low episodes but on the whole I liked it a lot.

I just finished watching "Combat" which was the only episode I hadn't seen yet and it reveals a lot about Gwen's character.
Her experiences with Torchwood i.e, seeing a side of Cardiff that, like Neil Gaiman's London Below in Neverwhere few people could conceive even existed except in nightmare and shadow, have obviously changed her and made her arrogant and callous towards average simple-minded blokes like her boyfriend Rhys.
This kind of dirty, gritty story-telling is something that I admire as it doesn't shy away from the depths that we, as a species, will sink to in order to satisfy our baser instincts for the seven deadly sins.

Must be a time management issue.
John Barrowman is currently busy filming the end part of the third series of "Doctor Who" and then they'll spend what, another nine months filming "Torchwood" plus his song and dance engagements he probably has planned.
Can't wait to see what Russell and Co. have planned when the 10th Doctor and Capt. Jack meet up.

Why, oh Why does everyone assume that it's the Doctor's Tardis at the end of Torchwood Series 1?

No, I don't have any info, I just like to stir stuff up tongue

I thought they would sound similiar, yet since he still has the old Type 40, it's gonna make some noise. I wonder what those new type TARDISes sounded like, as they did take on human-like forms....

Captain Jack,
If it isn't the 10th Doctor's Tardis your namesake stepped into, whose is it?
Granted that Captain Jack appears in the latter episodes of series three, are they setting him up for some intergalactic shenanigans with some fellow time lords?

The 8th Dr's books where his TARDIS was destroyed and so forth. I don't want to say no more right now, as I may have said too much as it is....

And as far as we know now... the Doctor is the last Timelord alive. I don't see anyone else being able to pilot a TARDIS... well except if you're a companion and the script editor needs the TARDIS moved. Razz

I would draw your attention to the "Master Returning?" boards on this forum to stir your interests in "The Last Timelord"...

Did anyone else get tired of hearing all the references to Torchwood in the recent DW season?

At times it almost seemed like DW was one big advertisement for the then upcoming Torchwood series.

They REALLY wanted you to know that it was a Doctor Who Spin-Off.

The big contradiction in the Torchwood stories is that they claim to be protecting Earth from alleged invasion, but so far there hasn't been much invasion. Just wierd stuff that could be idiosyncratic. Most of the time the wierd stuff that may indeed be alien is found out and shown to be hardly alien at all (ie. "Countrycide") or put to rest before hardly anyone else finds out about it ("Greeks Bearing Gifts"). Of course, the series' finale may put all that to rest... Wink

I love the show, however. The only episode I really had a problem with was the kiss in "Captain Jack Harkness," and not because it was a gay kiss, but because it seemed historically inaccurate and over the top. This was an issue that was heavily debated on the Outpost Gallifrey forums.

The onlookers did seem to accept that kiss awfully well for it having been WWII era. I'm not sure many present would have looked so touched by it... and it would almost certainly have been the end of the real Captain Harkness' military career...

Oooo... potential paradox there. That kiss gets Harkness discharged, he does not go on the mission and does not die. The Torchwood Jack then can not assume his identity and everything goes wobbly from there.

Maybe that's why the Doctor showed up looking for him.

Anyway, I saw the Dead Ringers spoof yesterday. Funny stuff... wish it was longer.
