I keep hearing Tennet this, Smith that, but little, if nothing, of Mr. Eccleston.

Like TV Critic Amy on Youtube, the 9th Doc's time was my favorite of NuWho. I feel he was better than the next two successors, he was more alien than them and had that air of mystery and occasional grumpiness that Hartnell had, and the quirks that Tom Baker had. And actually pointing out humanity's stupidity is another fav.

Let's talk about Doctor #9, yes?

Simply put, if he had not been brilliant, we would never have had David or Matt!

Doc 9 is far and away my favorite Doc from the new series.

He was just intense. Mysterious, dark, haunted... loved it cheers

I agree with you all on all your points. He was "fantastic!" My favorite series of NuWho and probably my favorite Doctor after Pertwee.

Not to mention, I liked the fact that his costume did NOT stand out for a change, I really digged the leather jacket, black slacks and boots look.

He should have stayed on a few more years, and I think he had better chemistry with Rose than Doc #10 did.....that felt a bit forced, I think.

I like that characteristic that he has, that he is so dark and tormented since he has just come out of the Time War and then goes straight back into it!

I wish we could have seen more of him. It's a shame he didn't want to come back and do any audios or anything. I hope he does do the 50th aniversary special, though. Smile

eccleston was brilliant! that being said, the reason he is forgotten, is apart from mcgann, he is the shortest on-screen doctor in recent years. david would have been looked over as well, if his character only had one year.

but that was the brilliance in both chris, and rtd. to create a character for one year, who had an arc that was so heart-wrenching. he's bitter, he's cold. he's even mean sometimes. but by the end of the series, he's healed. he's come full circle.

when the 10th doctor left off rose with his clone (10.5) most people think he is referring to himself when he said he was born out of fire and war and angry, but i trully believe he was referring to the 9th doctor.

david had 3 years, and a year of specials to make people remember him. matt smith may try to tackly tom baker's 7 year legacy. but chris had one year for everyone to love/hate/feel sorry for.

he is truly underrated, and hopefully will make an appearance at one point. i've always hoped for another five doctors (because i liked the story arcs), and could see them doing that with doc 7-11.

I liked Eccleston but he really shouldn't have taken the role. He's basically written off DW for the future so any chance of a story with the 9th in the future will be moot (hopefully they be able to use the 8th).

But, I have heard stories that he is very open to meeting fans, especially kids. But he just seams like the type who does one job and moves on, not looking back. I am hoping he would show up for an anniversary special, but I doubt we will ever see him in a Big Finish.

Well, the part about him being happy to sign autographs is what I have heard about him, too bad about his other statement, oh well.
