Day of the Daleks Empty
PostSubject: Day of the Daleks   Day of the Daleks EmptyWed Apr 27, 2011 5:29 pm

I really think there should be a special day for Daleks where we celebrate all Dalek-goodness! They are the most iconic thing in Who other than the TARDIS and Tom's scarf, right? So surely there should be a special Dalek day!!

Perhaps it should be on the date of the first broadcast of 'Day of the Daleks,' which was indeed 1st Januray '72. Or perhaps the first showing of the first ever Dalek story, 'The Dead Planet,' which was 21st December 1963.

I dunno what we could do on Dalek day but we could surely do something, eh? Razz

Soooo, "The Tenth Planet' began airing on October 8th. Sounds like a good date for Cybie-Day to me....

It was switched to the 18th, here.

The original Dalek casings were finished and brought to studio on November the 22nd, a day before Doctor Who ever aired, and the Friday Kennedy was killed (Which, think, marked the downward spiral of the U.S.). And while there appears to be a lot of venom towards the Victory designs, they are based a lot on the original Cusik designs, including the backsides, which lack the semi spheres, and with a hatch.

In the U.S., "Cybermen Day" always falls on the Monday after Thanksgiving.

And yes, you may have heard some media refer to it as "Cyber Monday"...but really, that's just palin stupid.

(I accidentally misspelled "plain" just now...but on second glance, decided to leave it.)
