| The Sarah Jane Adventures will be a show we'll miss, but it might not be the end quite yet, as seemingly half of Series 5 was already filmed. It has yet to be confirmed if these episode will actually be shown.
They could air only half the series, or try to restructure what remaining scripts are left from the fifth series and go from there.
Speculate away. |

| The show should go on. Lis herself pushed to keep it going, even when she was sick and knew she was not doing well. Let's honor her and her devotion.
One idea I've had is to bring back Jo Grant, and have her take over for Sarah Jane. Have the kids come together to recognize how they have grown and been trained by Sarah, and to always be her legacy to the world, so as to keep it the Sarah Jane Adventures, but still, now, branch out, and let the kids grow and also mentor others, even as they still learn (from Jo). |

| Interesting ideas. I suppose the real issue is how to get around Sarah being gone. If the episodes she filmed can't be reworked in some way to write her out, they're kind of in a tough spot.
Should be interesting to see what they do. |

| DWM have said they will air the episodes they completed. I think after that, that should be all for this year. Maybe in 2012 they can look at a different show along the lines of SJA.
I think if they do pick it up then it should be Clyde and Rani (and maybe Jo's grandson, since Luke will presumably still be out of the picture most of the time) with an occasional appearance by Jo. I think Jo works better as a fun, crazy Aunt who drops by to help out rather than a leader of the gang.
They could call it "Bannerman Road" or something along those lines. |

| I like the idea of Jo Grant filling in, but I don't think it is the most feasible option long term. I think just airing what hey have and then either rethink the show altogether or just let it be done. Being part of the Who Universe there are still many show ides that can emerge and be given a chance be that other companions or something brand new in thought. |

| i think they were going to end the show anyways after this series, so i do think they should come up with some sort of tribute show. they haven't (at least i don't know of) recognized the death of the brigadier in doctor who, so i think a tribute show ending the sarah jane adventures, aknowledging the loss of both sarah jane and the brig would be appropriate. it would be chance for the character's to have closure, and to end the series without just letting it go. i've actually thought about writing something like that (not for the show, but maybe as comic book form). i think it would be nice for fans to have closure as well, to two of the most iconic characters in the doctor who universe, and the sarah jane adventures. |

| I think bringing in Peri or Ace would work nice. Especially since Sarah gave a list of what companions are out there. Ace would be fantastic and finally give her a new beginning and history as to how she left. |

| The show should go on... as The Clyde Langer Adventures!!!
He's practically been the main character for the past two seasons, anyway. |

| Personally, I feel that they should show the last three serials, and be done. Give it an ending like The Next Generation had, where it showed the Enterprise flying off for new adventures, and dedicate the last one to Elisabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney. |

| Anyone else think it was spooky that the last story to air before her passing was tiled "Goodbye, Sarah Jane?" I agree that they should just end the series instead of shoehorning another character in and milking it. |

You know, if it is true that Liz would have wanted the show to continue without her, we should definitely honor that, and make sure the legacy lives on. |

I agree. Just let it quietly finish. Let us assume that Sarah Jane's adventures continue on. Don't let the character die. Or the Brig. They are too beloved and should live forever. |

| wow guys, sorry to be the downer here. i just assumed that even in tv shows, the characters are mortal. my personal preference is when they actually address the character like the actors who played them. i know more tv shows than not, just end it without anything. |

| Maybe they should just alter the last story they filmed and make the earth blow up, destroyed by a Vogon Constructor Fleet or something. |

| They could do a pull back from Earth and maybe Sarah Jane is missing, and they could do some of her best lines. |

The thing is, they never have addressed companion demise after leaving the Doctor. Adric is still unique in that regard. Even Harry's passing is mentioned briefly, and is easily missed. And occurred decades after it had happened. |

| I do wonder if Liz ever did discuss the future of the show with RTD when she learned of her illness. Knowing how proud she as of it, I do wonder if she would have wanted it to continue. |

| they would have to rename it for me to watch again. she was the show, in my eyes. she was so much, just like the doctor. it would be like torchwood, without captain jack, it just wouldn't be the same. |

| Apparently, the Idiot editor in the Sun announced that they were going to rewrite the scripts and film the remaining episodes of Series of the Sarah Jane Adventures, explaing Sarah Jane's absence.
The BBC responded tactiful by saying they'll show the remaining episodes, and that's it for the Sarah Jane Adventures. (click for actual report).
Personally, I'm very glad they've chosen to do it this way. Without Sarah Jane, it would've just been "The Adventures". I've always prefered an ending which gives the impression that while we might not see the characters again, they're still around having adventures. |
