Indeed. I do, however, like Johnny Depp, but this is not for him. I'm still a little skeptical about his playing Barnabas Collins, but I think he'll be fine because he loves the character and respects Jonathan Frid so much.

I think he actually might not be that bad, it would be interesting to see an american as the doctor, but if he did it, he'd probably only do it for 1 year.

But I agree...Johnny Depp in a "Doctor Who" movie would be as big a debacle as, say, a "Star Wars" fan making a "Star Trek" movie...

Apparently, very few of our actors seem to be the hero type.

As much as I like and respect Johnny Depp as an actor, he's not cut to be the Doctor. For that matter, he really hasn't been cut for half the roles he has played. He's done them well, no doubt about it, but he's definitely got a lot of over exposure recently.

Brent Spiner, now there'd be a interesting take on The Doctor. Matter of fact, my journey into Classic Who makes me pine for a older actor, to be honest. Matt Smith is doing fantastic, but there was an authority in Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, and McCoy that just isn't coming across anymore.

i could not agree more, and i stumbled on this when i was looking up tribute videos for the brig so if its old i appologize, coming to the think tank was just the smartest fastest way i could think of to find out about it. i agree that the doctor should always be brittish but my biggest problem with it was just the fact i think its weird to do a movie with a different actor when you already have a great and popular doc on the tv screen. the only advantage i saw to this would have been if it was indeed written by russell and it had a great actor like johhny who i think at the very least would have done a good job it might get people and fans who other wise wouldn't pay attention to doctor who to get exposure to it, paticularly american teens who would watch it just for the dep factor. i think if they did a movie a better choice might be to get eccleston who i know does'nt really want to reprise the role, but might be convencied for a large budget movie. oh well thanks for helping me with the "rumor"
