Defying Gravity Empty
PostSubject: Defying Gravity   Defying Gravity EmptyWed Jun 16, 2010 1:27 pm

Okay, so I was in Wal-Mart, saw this series, and asked, "What's this? I never heard of this..." So I got a copy (only $20) and watched it. It was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed it.

It's a bit on the adult side of things (let's say, PG-13), but I found the series really was the best, most realistic near-future science fiction space series I had seen in quite a while. It had a level of depth that I was not expecting as I continued to watch, and I found the final episode moving and emotionally thought-provoking.

Anyone else watched this?

If I recall correctly, this was a BBC/Canada production. I watched only the first two airing of the show (essentially because there is an actor I liked in it) but couldn't get into it. It reminded me of other shows too much. Seems as though I'm getting more and more finicky with shows I really enjoy.

That's because gravity is a harsh mistress. Just ask the Tick Very Happy

And nope, haven't seen the show in question.

I agree totally at first. I thought, "Eh. Is this it?" But then...wow, it exceded my expectations. I put it down as MUST-SEE Sci Fi that you should definitely watch through once.

Got Disc 2 tonight! Kind of hoping I don't get too disappointed that it ends too soon.

Love the characters, love the tech, Love Ron Livingston since Office Space and Band of Brothers, so that is a huge plus!

Halfway thru disc 3, this show has me hooked. When was it on and why didn't I see any ads for it?

Wait for the payoff with the last episode...

And yes, it was abandoned before it had a chance.

OK, that was awesome!!! I am so crushed that it ended! I loved these characters, loved the story, loved the ship!! I wish the creator would at least write books to finish the story line. I am so glad you picked this up at Walmart and posted it here. I never would have heard of it. The last episode was amazing! I, too was cheering "Come on Zoe!!"

Thanks for that. I suppose that it the best we will get to the rest of the series. I would love a model of Antares!

Anyone who was interested in this series, I found a prop store selling props from the store. They also have battlestar and Caprica props, too.

I ordered a press kit for the Antares mission. I will post pictures here when I get it on Thursday.
