11th Doctor Matt Smith

Does anyone else get the emo vibe off of him? The hair is kinda freaking me out. I'm watching these interviews and am already starting to feel David Tennant withdrawal. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I'm not a fan of change this big.

I don't get an emo vibe from him at all. He's so exuberant and full of life! I think he comes off as quite lovely, actually.

watch him in the sally lockhart mysteries- that might settle you. I remember when tennant took over I was like- wow this fella is too young. I watched a great show he did called blackpool to get an idea of what he was like and was bowled over...then I saw cassanova and well I was pretty happy after that point and looking forward to his portrayal. First impressions are hard to get- it always takes me a little while to get used to the new guy. I think it is hard because tennant was just so good that he is a tough act to follow.

The only thing I can base my opinion on is the small bit of Doctor 11 we have seen following the regeneration in The End of Time. Given that small snippet I did not get an emo vibe at all. In fact he seemed to be actually enjoying his challenge of the crashing TARDIS. That small scene really made me anxious to see MS I think he will be great.

I guess he doesn't give me an emo vibe, per say, it's just his hair when he's not the Doctor. Kinda weird, not that I have room to talk, I have uber curly hair and there's not much I can do about it. I did laugh at some of his lines when the regeneration was over, I just can't help but be a little nervous. I felt the same way though when Christopher Eccelston regenerated (until DT's first episode). I'm just being stubborn of the change, I'm sure he'll be fantastic. They wouldn't have chosen someone who couldn't measure up.

You know, the hair was the one thing I did like when I first heard Matt was taking over. I actually think I'm gonna like him now, though...and I still love the hair!

I have always been adamant about avoiding interviews and the like with actors who've been cast as the Doctor until after I see them in the role for a bit. The actor and his character are not the same person; sometimes, even the actor's description of his take on the role isn't all that accurate, since the character only emerges when filtered through the actor, the writer, and the director...one third of that equation is an incomplete picture at best. Thus, I see no sense in coloring my perceptions of the character with my responses to the actor or his unscripted comments...let the role come to life first!

So...the minute or two of footage in which I've seen the Doctor as played by Matt Smith? I like it!

Originally there was a ton of Emo vibe, yes. Especially those first press pics. Terrible. They seem to be going a different direction with the actual character of the 11th Doctor though, so I doubt we'll have to worry about it.

It's way too early for anyone to have any real opinion on him one way or the other. I keep hearing people say "Oh he's on his way to being my favorite" and "Oh I can already tell he's going to suck"...

The reality is, NO, you can't tell either. If Matt Smith is already one of your favorite Doctors, you obviously don't have any passion for the show and just randomly make stuff up in your head and decide that's what you like.

Same for if you hate him.

We can all have vibes, but there isn't enough to judge him on.

I personally didn't like Tennant for a while. His first couple of adventures were so-so in my book, and I didn't much care for his look. Talk about funny hair? Tennant's first few shows were odd hair days. But soon enough he'd grown on me quite well.

If the show does it's job, all the Doctors should grow on you somewhat over the course of their adventures.

For a few minutes I thought Emo meant the orange muppet on Sesame Street, then I remembered his name is Elmo.

I got a mop-top Beatles-y feeling from him, but the music for the scene might have influenced me a bit. I was pleasantly surprised. I never like a new Doctor right away, usually takes a few eps to warm up to him, but there's something about Matt that got me a little excited for the next season.

Funny, after Doc11 thought he might be girl, he grabbed he throat and said "not a girl!", the kids asked me "why did he grab his throat to see if he was a girl? Why didn't he just check "down there"?

I do quite enjoy his enthusiasm and excitement with getting the part of the Doctor. Tennant set the bar pretty high, so I really should give Smith a few episodes so I can warm up to him. I don't envy him in having to follow Tennant's act!

Anyway, its really hard to get a feel from him in the first few seconds we know him, barely had a minute before the show ended, then we have to consider that the first episode will be recovering from the regeneration. . .we always have that. . .Heck, the 6th doctor took several episodes to do that. . .just depends on how intense the previous death was. . .considering the amount of radiation in 10's body, and the length of time he held it in. . .and how it rushed out of him, essentially destryoing the TARDIS's interior. . .he may be loopy for half the season.

My fiancia hates Matt Smith but that's cause she had the hots for David Tennant and misses him in the role. I can tell she's excited by the 1 minutes scene plus the trailer but doesn't want to admit it...

As for Emo... I got that vibe from Tennant... with lines like, "Why do I keep loosing everything and they survive?" While Ecceslston looked the Emo part he rarely acted it. But David had some rather Emo lines on occassion.

When I said I got emo vibes from him, I meant purely from his off-screen look.

I had been avoiding all Who-News until the last few days, although I was well aware that the switch was happening. So my first impression of him (outside of the first couple minutes and trailer) was like "Woah!"

I also get the Flock of Seagulls feeling from the hair lol

ah he has no clothes sense...thank goodness the costume department took care of that. That pict looks like a punk Mr. Rogers. I like his costume though and as always scared until I see a few episodes...I'll sure I will like him. From what little I saw, not bad- he does have that doctor quality .

Looking on Wiki, it describes young angst ridden, sensitive, or shy. the clothing style is skinny jeans, thsirts and a clean cut look.

I kept thinking of that weird comedian. And when I started to read the wiki entry I just thought "snot nosed kid" God, I am getting old

Well, he is an alien, who knows what he has down there or anywhere!
