DW "monster" rubber masks Empty
PostSubject: DW "monster" rubber masks   DW "monster" rubber masks EmptyWed Mar 30, 2011 2:14 pm

During the latter 80s before the "classic" series was cancelled, I remember some full page advertisements in StarLog magazine promoting a series of "over the head" rubber masks of iconic Doctor Who "monsters". I distinctly recall recreations of a Silurian, a Sontaran and even Davros among a few others. I also remember they were based upon the designs from the JNT era.

What was that company? Did anybody ever order from it? Was it legit'? And, if anyone has that old ad page available, would that person be willing to scan and post it for the rest of us to see?

Sincerely,

Bill

I guess it's too late for WhoNA to order up any of these for us. They certainly are cool.

I remember that ad!

I also remember filling it out and taking it to my parents only to hear a resounding "NO!". Sad

Considering the ad displays a copyright year of 1987, 23 years ago, it would be a near miracle WhoNA could scrounge a source for these masks. And given that many years, the rubber used to cast the masks has probably degraded, growing brittle, possibly cracking.

Still, if WhoNA can find any, I'd be seriously interested in the two Davros designs!

Sincerely,

Bill

Did a quick Google search foe Imagineering Ltd. A page from "RichardWho" was retrieved showing a Wisher mask from that company.

Maybe it's just the angle and lighting, but I must say I'm not overly impressed.

Sincerely,

Bill

I don't think even changing the angle and lighting would help that mask look appealing..yikes!
