Actually, NOT looking forward to it. Moff's X-Mas specials have mostly been a disaster. I expect nothing less from this one.

That was pretty darn good! Capaldi was awesome as usual and I wish all his scripts had been this good. David Bradley, wow, I thought I was watching Hartnell some times, he was brilliant! I would love to see more of him as First Doctor. I loved Mark Gattis as the WW1 Captain, and when he revealed his name, it was so cool!
The last few minutes, as Capaldi was dying were heart wrenching, but when the new Doctor appeared, I was not impressed, I could not even understand what she said. I will give her a try, at least.

I loved it, and I havent liked an Xmas Special since Runaway Bride.
Much love for 10th Planet and Doc 1. I agree... Bradley just nails Hartnell.
Was also the first Nu Who regen that I think got the tone perfect.
Really liked the shot of her framed and backlit by the smoke and light from the console.
And yes, I had no idea what she said either. Had to go online for that one.

I voted 'Okay.' It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as amazing as I'd hoped either. Still, it was good!
Glad to have had the 1st Doctor reappear and loved how they fit it in with the actual scenes from the Tenth Planet. I felt like the old-fashioned sexist jokes from the 1st Doc, although tongue in cheek and funny, were a massive misrepresentation of the 1st Doctor and did him an injustice. He never said things like that in his own episodes, why now? It was a very 2017-lens on the '60s and was projecting its own unnecessary PC rubbish onto the era. It was a massive dose of what C.S. Lewis called "chronological snobbery" IMO, and it irked me.
There was no real plot to be honest, but the episode served as a nice epilogue to the series just gone and the Doctor's death. Would have been nice if Capaldi went out with more of a bang though. I was hoping for a whopper of a story, and my hopes were higher than normal since the last series was so good. Instead it felt like it was kinda just "look the Doctor's about to regenerate, the 1st Doctor, Bill, Rusty, the Brigadier's grandad, and even Clara are all here to wave him off," with no actual story to hold it together. Just a glass woman messin' about. So that was disappointing. That being said, for what it was and what it was trying to do, I think it did a decent job. If othing else, it was awesome to see my two favourite Doctors together!
Really sad to see Capaldi go. For a long time before him I always found it so hard to say who my favourite Doctor is, but 12 encapsulates everything I think the Doctor should be. I'm not particularly excited for a female Doctor either, so it makes the goodbye harder, but I'm thankful we had him at all! If the next series doesn't go well, at least I'll have Capaldi to watch back over lol.
That being said, I am in a way looking forward to seeing how Jodie does and what it will be like to have a female Doctor - I didn't like the idea of a female Master to begin with, but I think Missy was one of the best things about the last few years of Who. So I'm at least open to the idea, even if I am apprehensive and a bit resentful. Here's to hoping to being won over! At the very least, I'm excited for more stories and hope the new series comes by quickly!

I'm really hoping 13 hits the ground and regenerates into someone else... It would be genius to have used Jodi as a cover for hiding the reveal of the actual actor to play the 14th doctor... bring back Smith or Tennant... At this point I would even take Clint Howard, Lenny Kravitz, taylor kitch, maybe one of the gaffers or the nearest janitor to the studio at the beeb...how about The Queen's husband? He retired, so he totally has the free time to be the Doctor! Let's hear it for the Prince!!!

The regeneration was a total anti-climax to the whole episode. Quite frankly, I could care less. The show has ended as far as I'm concerned.
One additional thing: I think it's a great tragedy that Bill Potts was only a one season companion.

Lets hope the classic series TARDIS console room makes a come back. After all the Doctor is supposed to be traveling in an antiquated type 40 TT capsule not a state of the art time machine

5.7 million over night viewers. Lowest overnight numbers for a Christmas episode yet! Last year was 5.8 million... This year had a Regeneration as well as the first Doctor, should have been a larger spike in numbers. Matt's outing was 8.3 million

Loved it.
It wasn't very Christmassy, bit that's ok. It doesn't always have to be.
Peter was great, as always...and David Bradley is still a superb First Doctor.
Best sendoff for a Doctor since Eccleston.

My main issue is that I’m not a fan of Time Lords being able to will themselves not to regenerate (or regenerate only after a soliloquy) that’s cropped up in the revived series. The First & Twelfth (technically Thirteenth) Doctors regenerating is a forgone conclusion, so listening to the two angst about it for unclear reasons isn’t dramatic. Twelve’s goodbye speech was too long & meta in a similar way to Ten’s protracted fan service exit. So the plot was pretty thin. https://mattthecatania.wordpress.com/2017/12/28/doctor-who-examines-the-shape-of-water/
