I never heard him say "want" an older Doctor but considering...

I am happy that there's no desire on the production team's part to appeal to "a Twilight demographic".

For sure its time for an older Doctor.... 40/50 years old...

Personally I would go for John Rhys-Davies - wonderful and talented actor, and I heard he is very interested to be in Doctor Who (he is a fan).

Peter Capaldi would be great but, I have to agree with Just Scott, I think he'd be a way cooler Master.

While I like Peter Capaldi, I have to remember what happened to the show the last time an actor who previously appeared was cast as the Doctor

I blame JNT over Colin, really. Much like with Moffat and Smith, it's the writing that hinders.

Colin is an amazing Doctor... listen to all of his Big Finish Audios like I have. He was at the mercy of JNT, bad scrips and low budget.

I'm not blaming Colin. JNT was also responsible for the 5th Doctor, which was one of my favorite Era's. Something happened between that and the 6th Doctor, and it was just night and day (for me). While I may have been just kidding in my initial post, I do hope with all seriousness that whomever is chosen is not someone who has appeared on the show before.

Peter Capaldi did great work on both Torchwood and Doctor Who, and just like any other actor who takes the role of 12, I would hate to say that his previous 'appearance' was better than his body of work as the doctor.

JNT is only part of the Colin era nightmare.

People tend to forget BBC Comptroller Michael Grade, who publicly decried the show for its low production value while not allocating more funds, and of course...trying to get Colin fired from the series while dating Colin's ex-wife.

Considering Matt Smith was in a similar article before he was announced, I think one of these actors maybe the next Doctor.

I'm thinking Conrad Turner is a possibility.

Alan Rickman would be my first choice -Keith

But I know I'm only dreaming.

I like Peter Capaldi and would be happy with him, but I still prefer a virtual unknown.

He is rather unknown isn't he?  Besides to Who fans, lol.  He was in World War Z as a Doctor at the World Health Organization facility in Cardiff.

I know he is very young, but what about Andrew Garfield? Could he pull it off? Although I would personally like to see an older person in the role.

No offence, but please not Andrew Garfield. He's annoying enough as Spider-man. Don't let him kill Doctor Who as well.

I really want someone over 40 for the Doctor. Tired of young ones playing the role.
