Show off your figure collections!!!

The Doctor of Gallifrey

This is my second year doing a display at a local library for their annual Doctor Who/Whovian celebration.
The display and celebration are aimed at getting kids excited about reading so Doctor Who books are a big part of it.

Gah!  You left both Magnus Greel and Mr. Sin standing without aid of a plastic stand or leaning up against a wall?  Are you crazy?  These two are both constantly tumbling down even with outside help in my display case.  Can't imagine leaving those two unattended for a long period.

But seriously, a great looking display.  Hopefully it gets folks interested in reading about Doctor Who and science fiction.  Nice selection of product from various publishers and ranges of toys.

That was the work of the youth services library clerk who helped with the display. She also got the Amy Pond figure to stand on her own on the first try! I don't think I've ever gotten it to stand on it's own. She was like some figure standing ninja or something.

Their big Whovian party is one of the highlights of my year. They had it on a Saturday during school fall break this year so attendance was only around 40-50 people, but last year there were over a hundred and at least 30 cosplayers. They also have a TARDIS, all sorts of crafts and games for the kids, and I was asked to speak on a Whovian discussion panel which went really great. It was kind of awesome having kids and teens asking me all sorts of questions about Doctor Who after the panel. I loved seeing how excited and passionate they all were about it.

Fantastic display!! I hope it inspires some young readers.

AWESOME display. Nothing as fantastic as that ever comes our way. Instead of closing libraries round here, they should be inspired and creative with things like this. Brains need to be fed to keep them healthy. Stuff like this would be so welcome round here!!

What an ordeal it was to get, but I am really excited to have it! It is supposed to be a 4th Doctor's console, but it works for my Pertwee. I should put it in the lab for Inferno!

That is really sweet Scott. With so many people doing that I have a feeling CO might actually make one like that eventually.

P.S. Mods, would it be an idea to move this thread to the Toy Section again? It would be a great place to keep posting pics of figures, since there's not much else to post in the main Toy Section these days! A kind of general 5" Who thread. Just a thought!

The "Doctor Who Collecting" threads are for members to show off all of their goodies in whatever form they take...toys, books, autographs...etc. and are not autopruned.

Thanks to mattman, I now have an extra red Pertwee wearing a black cape!   (I didn't have a spare unused one of either)



I had forgotten what a pain in the neck it was to get those capes on...

Scaled my collection (as with my life) WAY down some time ago. Still have my memories of days past but life moves on.
