Yeah I found this hard to believe too. It would've made much more sense if she was an author of childrens' books. |

| I think she just moved up from kissogram to model. The name & tagline could be an injoke that she told marketing. |

Yes. Exactly. I remember one of the dept stores back home would do an annual tryout and customers could apply to become a model for their local print ads. Her being in the store's ad doesn't mean she was doing professional modelling full time. Well suited for her though, considering Karen's background |

| Overall, I liked this episode. The Cybermen have definitely gotten worse than Dalek-ed if they can now be an aside in a one episode story. (Previous appearances with them as the main baddie: 2-two parters, one shared with the Daleks, and a Christmas special.) Hopefully they finally do something new with them in the next few years.
The best part was the whole interaction between Matt Smith and James Corden as 11 and Craig. Given the other stuff I've seen Corden in (Gavin and Stacey, Lesbian Vampire Killers and The History Boys), I really this he's at his best in a role like this.
And that ending. WOW.

Next day, my brother said "Somewhere right now, someone's using 'Stormageddon' as a screen name on a forum." |

| i liked the episode very much. i thought it was funny and tied up some loose ends, i havent had the overall problems with much of the story acrhs that people seem to be having so its pure fun for me. the thing about the cybies is, if moff is sticking to his trend of sorta tearing things down to build them back up i think its appropriate that he had them at a low point in their existance so he can build or change them to whatever he wants them to be. he did it with the daleks, which for better or worse reset them back to the pure daleks they started out as and with any luck and patience he'll do it with the cybermen as well. i don't think they were anymore pathetic or enept in this story than they were in silver nemesis. the real story was about the doctor and his affect on the people in his life. can't wait for the finale. |

| One thing annoyed me about this episode...that silly little "Amy intro" we American viewers get. Yes, it's always annoying, but the annoying bit this time was...they should've replaced it with a "Craig intro"! Not only would it have brought new viewers up to speed as to who he was and explained his relationship to the Doctor, but it no doubt would have been much more entertaining than Amy's "imaginary friend" crap.
It would have made perfect sense to do this...so of course no one thought of it. Or of simply removing the "Amy intro" since she was barely in the episode. |

| Kinda makes you wonder what they will do when Amy leaves and we get a new full time companion. No intro, or will they feel compelled to build another one around the new person.

| I vote, "No intro." It's not part of the original broadcast in the UK, right? Why do we need it? |

The part with the two women in the shop and one of them gets killed in the dressing room? Yes, we do get that in the original broadcast. Why would we not? |

| Umm, Calixer is meaning a short "monologue: that has been shoehorned into the BBC America cable-cast. For us "colonists", we see the "prologue" just as the Brits do. But then, just before the climatic "sting" blares to start the opening credits, we get a montage of quick clips showing the Doctor, the TARDIS, its interior, a shot of Venice, the Silurian complex, etc. while Amy Pond tells us, "When I was a little girl, I had an imaginary friend. When I grew up, he came back. He's the Doctor. He has a box called the TARDIS that is bigger inside than out that can travel anywhere in time and space. I decided to run away with him and we have been running ever since." Then the proper credits start with the temporeal vortex and the TARDIS spinning about madly.
Fortunately, it's very short, but some of the PTB at BBC America felt the audience needs an explanation. A lot of old time Whovians feel like we're being condescended with the monologue. And I wonder if it's that effective for someone watching for the first time? It's played so rapidly, I suspect newcomers will just react, "Huh, what did she say?"
Sincerely,
Bill |

| I will say, it's not as offensive as the voiceover "explanation" that used to play on the "classic" series for a while. That was nerve grating... "Okay, for you mentally retarded Americans we're going to tell you what's happening in the show so you can understand it..." |

| Oh, probably because the audience is smaller in the US so if a casual viewer was flicking through the channels they'd be able to catch up with the back story I guess. |

BBCA airs reruns of the show back to back every weekday, repeats the most recent episode Saturday afternoons, the new epis is repeated twice overnight after it premiers, and Doctor Who is already the highest rated program on the channel. It's just not needed. |

Oh, yes, I know - but I thought I'd just shed a little light on how unnecessary I think it is, based on the accessibility of the show to the "casual" viewer. It's actually aired quite frequently over here and heavily promoted on BBCA. I'm not sure if our friends over there in the UK are aware of that. |

| I will admit BBCA is certainly promoting it like a "flagship" or "cornerstone" series. No way have they been "brushing it under the carpet". And, as several of us here saw, it was even discussed upon the "Today" show on NBC, argueably the nation's oldest television network.
Sincerely,
