Watching "Genesis of the Daleks" for the first time.

Voted the best Doctor Who story of all time, I'd just like to make a thread where we can show our love for it! I saw it for the first time last night and... Wow, it was amazing and it's stuck in my head all day. Such great story telling and excellent acting!

Share the love for the genesis of the most iconic foe in Doctor Who!

I love Genesis. It is one of the only stories I've been able to watch straight through without taking a break in between....it's just SO iconic and entertaining...really as good as it gets.

The "Have I the right?" scene is one of the greatest scenes in all of Doctor Who.

Personally, I like the scene where the Doctor tries to get Davros to see reason by using the viral agent argument. The look of horror on Tom Baker's face as he realizes that Davros is utterly insane is outstanding.

Lil' bro brought it over one weekend and he and I watched it. It was kind of spoiled by either a glitch on the DVD suddenly repeating an episode and we didn't realize it for a bit.

I love the theme of it: yes, the Daleks are evil, but despite their evil, they cause good by making people put aside differences so they can join and fight together.

Wow, Scary, I can't believe you've never seen it before. My all time favourite episode. It was brilliant. I'll never forget seeing it for the first time as a kid - Davros scared the heck out of me! Me & my friends talked about it for weeks afterward. Come to think of it, that whole season generated a lot of schoolyard discussions. Ah, good times.

There is one other scene I really love....towards the end of part 5. When Davros is given the ultimatum by the leaders of the elite, and he agrees if they hold a meeting and have a vote. He then ORDERS them to arrange it in an hour, and then dismisses them! This is after he is defeated! I love the arrogance that he shows then, so subtle and so perfect for the character!

Unfortunately, due to all my money being sucked up by figures, I never get the chance to actually buy and watch classic Who episodes. "Genesis of the Daleks" amongst tons of others is just one that I have wanted to see for a long time. Luckily I was able to obtain this particular story, and I couldn't wait to get straight into it. My high expectations and anticipations for the episode paid off as it was simply awesome!

Certainly Terry Nation's best Dalek story. This one is a real gem.

I know! That's a great scene!

The most chilling part of me is the ending where the Daleks say how they're the superior race and all that.

I watched this when I was 9, I thought it was really good! It kind of put a spark into me to watch the new series!

The audio release of this story works brilliantly, it was a fantastic record in it's day and it's still a fantastic CD now, especially in the dark.

Am I the only one who thinks this story is overrated? I like it, it's a good story, but I don't get the hype for it. I love the "Have I the right?" speech, one of my favourite parts of the story, but most of the adventure seems dragged out.

Gonna watch it tonight with the audio commentary.

I watched disc two with all the extras last night. Very cool!
