| Was the creature supposed to be scary? Because everytime it appeared I did a big LOL. The more than obvious CGI was a bit disappointing as I have gotten rather used to the costumes from classic Who and so this one was just... eh...
However, I am glad that the Doctor has got his conscience back. I also shrieked when he got shocked... but maybe that was because I was distracted and thinking of the Eighth Doctor at the time... anyways... I hope to see more of this kind of Doctor from Matt Smith because he is finally starting to grow on me.
As for Rory, he's pretty amusing but I don't think anything good is going to happen with his relationship with Amy.
Also... I was quite disappointed with the opening. I felt that the way it went into the titles was a bit of a let-down. ~ |

| "It's a totally fair comparison, since--details aside--both stories rely on the myth of the vampire for their atmosphere, despite having different takes on things. " from that angle yes you can compare the 2, based on themes they both shared. "vampires of venice" still wasn't a episode about vampires and not feature any vampires and "state of decay" was and episode about vampires and did feature vampires (well at least one great vampire) that's a big difference. the title is very misleading i agree. but you can call a cat a fish but in the end it's still a cat. |

| I can agree that he title was misleading, as it certainly make you think its about Vampires, and granted they thought that was who they were up against until they figured out that was not the case. The opening scene left me feeling a bit disappointed as well. It just leaves you hanging, feeling incomplete and boom your into the opening credits. The relationship between Amy and Rory I don't see as going anywhere and will fall apart in the end, but it is nice to see a male companion who isn't a total bumbling idiot either. I will say this though, Rory did have a moment where he had a point when he snapped at the Doctor. - Spoiler:
When Rory talked about how the Doctor made people strive to impress him and that was why people tend to die. of course, he wound up getting that argument thrown back at him later, but still....it was a valid point.
All in all, it was a decent episode. Not the best, and not the worst, but middle of the road. Matt Smith was really good in this episode and I have to admit I liked him in this episode. |

Some call it disappointment...I call it comedy! I can see the comedy in it, but it was left hanging which is why I was disappointed. |

They went from girl screaming to the stag party... awesome cut... the Doctor popping out of the cake... even better... but then they killed it by having that silence go on and on for a few seconds. They should have either pounced on him or just made the cut sooner.

| Not a bad episode but a bit too long (I guess they made up for the shorter ones from the last three shows as well as utilizing the Croatia filming).
I am not a fan of Amy - she's just above Martha in rank with Donna then Rose at top (hopefully she'll leave after this season) but Rory's okay - there is probably more than meets the eye with him (especially his reaction to the inside of the Tardis). Still trying to get used to the new Doctor so no real comment on him. |

| Funny how all the best episodes aren't written by the Grand Moff. I actually miss RTD, these days... |

| So is this the first episode that nobody hated? Not even a "below average" vote? I don't see lots of excitement for it though. Is the key to broadly accepted Who is to just do an average episode? What is missing that made people either love or hate the previous episodes? |

I don't. NEVAR. Anyway, regarding this "argument" about it being unfair to compare this episode to "State of Decay" because the fishies weren't really vampires... what's up with that? If it has fangs and drinks blood and doesn't like sunlight -- and makes you like it by draining your blood and replacing it with its own -- it's a vampire whether it looks like an alien fish thingy or not. But if the fishies weren't vampires, then neither were the lords of "State of Decay" (since the were augmented servants of the giant bat thingy) or the haemovores of "The Curse of Fenric" (since they were barnacle thingies and people under the influence of barnacle thingies). |

| ah, the curse of fenric. almost forgot about that. another vampire story that was better than this one . seriously, i'm sorry, i know there are some people who enjoyed the second half of this episode more than the first half, but i enjoyed the first half. really, it was almost like two different stories. the first half was almost like a good vampire tale, the second half i've seen 100 times before(the gelth, the pyroviles, the slitheen, etc, etc.) |

She might just show up in a couple of stories like Martha did. How true any of this is still a mystery though. |

| This has been my favorite episode thus far. It reminded me a little of the brilliant Shakespere Code. I love the weird(er) menace stories, where we are introduced to what we think is a character out of folklore but turns out to be an alien. |

| I need action figures of the son is his full finery and sword as well as his true aquatic vampire form. Do you think the Saturnynians could procreate with the Sea Devils? |

| I loved it when the Doctor keeps calling them "fish from space" and that they smelled "fishy". Fun episode all in alln (loved the cake jumping scene - brilliant!) and makes the concept of vampires less frightening for the younger audience - now I can say to my young son that vampires are nothing but "fish from space" ha! ha!
