| I would dare say it was almost darn near perfect. . .the questions about the past. . .the ice fair aspect. . .the mystery. . .the moral questions. . .the thrilling conclusion. . .the mystery epilogue. . .and they went hardcore! | A bit like "Kill the Moon" with Capaldi putting the companion in the role of deciding the fate of the monster and being a moral referendum on all of humanity. Not sure I particularly like the Doctor making such judgements. The more practical companions from the 1960's would have failed this test just from the standpoint of not taking crazy risks. Jamie may not have risked hundreds of lives for one "poor beastie" trapped under the ice. The B+W Doctors would have deemed Earth unworthy of his interest had Moffat's crew been writing for them.
But put a little kid in a big goofy red hat and let him get swallowed by a sea monster and you'll get a positive vote from me! |
