122 - Time-Flight Empty

A rather disappointing way to end the season.  Its an interesting and ambitious story, but the end result looks rather cheap in spots with the CSI overlays instead of exterior locations, the disappointing creatures, and the heavy makeup on "Kalid." I actually thought the whole idea of the plot was rather good and the guest cast was excellent.

The return of the Master was a welcome surprise. As he did as the Portreeve in Castrovalva, the Master returns by his use of disguises, although why he feels the need to use a disguise here is unclear...he doesn't expect to see the Doctor, it just happens by coincidence.  This trick to conceal the Master's identity is a common ruse while Anthony Ainley plays him.

Another ruse perpetrated by the production was the Doctor leaving Tegan behind at Heathrow at the end of the serial...seemingly for good, fulfilling his promise to return her home.  Of course, that's what she's wanted him to do since Logopolis...but stay tuned...

I actually don't mind watching this one too much, but it is a little disappointing considering that a little more money thrown at it could have made it so much better.
