It was a good story. Certainly a tale of "Don't judge a book by its cover," with the Rills unexpectedly being the friendlies.
I liked the Drahvins and thought they were an interesting idea, however, the lack of a full explanation for why they all blindly follow Maaga as their leader, why Maaga hates the Rills and why she lied to her soldiers certainly prevented me from investing in them much. It was a good idea but poorly developed, and thus made it quite two-dimensional.
It was also never explained why the planet blew up. Seemed like that we very shoddily just thrown in there as a plot device. An explanation would have been nice.
It's interesting that this seems to be the first time that the Doctor just leaves a group of people to die. They certainly deserved it, no question about that, but it's very different in comparison to the merciful Doctor that we know in later incarnations. And actually I like that. It makes a nice change.
A cool story idea, not brilliantly developed but it is fun and I would watch it again.
3 stars.
