| I have only seen the recon of this one that is on the DVD, but I have heard the full audio soundtrack. Not a bad "historical," but maybe a tad long. Excellent guest cast.

| This is one story I really love as well. The recon is excellent and it is a shame to me that this episode was wiped. Hopefully an animation of this episode will be feasible some day. |

| If this show is ever found, I hope it will live up to the legend it has created. I have seen a LC reconstruction, but that is all.

| Great story! Such a shame this story is still missing. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the reconstruction. No aliens, no monsters: just an evil, deceitful, selfish, power-hungry human villain and a cool adventure in the past. Definitely a great 'historical' story, as SeaDevil said. I think it was probably too long and it felt quite slow in the middle, but it picked up again and managed to sustain my interest throughout. My only real problem would be that the resolution was quite rushed: - Spoiler:
For 7 episodes we'd been building up to Tegana's 'master plan' that was finally going to be executed, but it was really quite underwhelming to see that it was merely a half-witted lunge at Kublai Khan with a sword. Then again, that probably looked better on the actual footage; I guess an assassination scene doesn't really get much justice when the only way to watch it is through a few photo stills.
The other thing that kind of annoyed me was that we'd also been building up to the Doctor getting his TARDIS back somehow, which happened quite literally in the last 20 seconds of the final episode when Marco literally shoved the key in their hand, they ran into the TARDIS, zoomed off and that was the end of it. A bit underwhelming really
Nonetheless, I still enjoyed this story very much. For a story that's quite unlike other Doctor Who stories, in that it actually has a human villain as opposed to some amazing alien species or something, this story was fun and interesting. Would have been nicer if the resolution wasn't so rushed but actually I still liked this story. 4 stars from me. |
