It's interesting that Tony has PTSD from The Avengers even though that was a win.
I like the repainted War Machine armor better than the Iron Patriot armor.
The scene where Tony's house is destroyed would've been 200% cooler if the gunships were replaced with Fin Fang Foom.
The Mandarin's voice seems off. I'm glad he has his rings, but I hope they still have unique alien powers. Iron Man fighting a regular terrorist leader with rings isn't a fair fight, but him fighting a terrorist leader with alien-powered rings is epic. Why does the tattoo on his neck look like Cap's shield had a baby with the Avengers logo? http://comicbook.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/the-mandarin-tattoo.jpg

It kinda reminds me of the original Obidiah Stane arc, when Stane had Pepper, Happy and his other friends kidnapped, then blew up the computer company that Stark founded (since Stane took over Stark International) and killed another friend in the explosion.

Kind of the way my uncle, who drove a tank into Berlin in April 1945 had it, even though the Allies won... yeah.

Even if it is an anarchy A on his neck tattoo, it's still done in Cap's shield colors. (it could also be a few other countries' flag colors.) If they'd used a different color scheme it wouldn't be so awkward. It seems hypocritical that a terrorist would-be dictator has an anarchy tat since usurping power is his goal, not true anarchy.

He's the the head of network of organized cells. Once you become part of a hierarchy, I doubt your commitment to anarchy. I like the scenes of Tony in the snow since it's so distinct from the other movies, but it also makes me want to see his obscure arctic armor (purple & silver with pentagonal arc reactor) on screen. Iron Man actually does have all those kooky mission specific armor variants toy companies make just to fill out assortments. Those variants would sell so much better if the were actually in the movies. He didn't eveny wear his fuglly deep sea & space armors for those scenes in Avengers where he's underwater or in space. Throw Hasbro a bone, Marvel Studios!
Im sure Hot Toys is licking their chops too at the thought of multiple armor variants.

Loving the new trailer! So great to see my favorite superhero (since I was a kid) get so much love. IM2 was a little disappointing after the first one, but I like where they seem to be going with this.

Just got back home from seeing it. T'was FANTASTIC!
Here's my review - I don't particularly think there's anything spoiler-y here, however it COULD ruin a few upcoming surprises in the film, so please read this review at your own risk:
Spoiler:
If you like your superhero movies rife with action, fighting and things blowing up then you've gotta see this! Usually there are only a handful of fight scenes in a movie like this, but I actually lost count of how many battles and fights and how many times Stark had to "save the day." It has certainly quenched my fanboy thirst.
Fantastic performances from all of the cast. Robert Downey Jr. was flawless once again, giving us the egotistical but suave, humorous, entertaining and bad ass Tony Stark that we all know and love. He had some timeless scenes and one-liners. Very funny ones indeed, as you would expect!
I am so glad that we got to see so much of Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper in this instalment to the saga. She was brilliant. I love her and so I'm really happy to have seen her kick so much ass for once! It was great to see her in the Iron Man suit, however, I'm disappointed that she wasn't in it for long. Saying that though, the ending made up for it. She was absolutely brilliant in that end battle!
Don Cheadle as Rhodes was once again excellent, too. Unfortunately we didn't see much of him. I would have liked to have seen a tone more of Iron Patriot, but beggars can't be choosers! And either way, what we did see of him was brilliant. The scene where he saves the president is actually one of my favourites from this movie (he was unaided by his suit of armour, too - Rhodes is just that bad ass ). That was awesome!!
Jarvis put a smile on my face again. Especially during the scene under water. I wouldn't imagine that a computer could be so great. Jarvis is special.
There were a couple of plot twists, too, which I did not expect. I don't want to ruin anything so I shall be cryptic: there are two main surprises that I didn't see coming, which were ones to do with the Mandarin and Stark.
The Mandarin twist bugged me a little at first, but actually it turned out pretty well in the end. Like REALLY well. That's all I'm saying.
As for the twist with Stark - it was actually more of a surprise than a 'twist', to be honest - worried me a little at first. However, I don't think it's anything to fret over. He'll always be around when the Avengers need him.
So all in all, you MUST see Iron Man 3. You MUST. It was absolutely brilliant. Packed with action, fighting, battles, explosions, humour and most importantly: IRON MAN.
4 very well earned stars from me!

Downey's not sure about the future of Iron Man, but he'll at least be in Avengers 2 for sure.
If he really doesn't want to do the solo films anymore then I'd be cool with him just returning for the Avengers films. It'd be better than losing him altogether.
Here's some of the speculation (don't worry, no spoilers in this ):

Is Ironman 3 considered part of Phase 2 or not? I have read that Phase 2 begins with Thor 2,so I am not sure.

I'd say it should be. They released a Phase 1 collection of the Marvel movies, so I'd assume it'd be the first of the new one. Perhaps that meant that Thor: The Dark World will be the first chronologically?

BIG SPOILERS!
This was leagues above Iron Man 2! At Free Comic Book Day, I showed my friends the fold-out spoiler covers DC did last month. Before the movie one asked if there'd be a post-credits stinger, & another said instead they'd have a fold-open beginning that spoiles the movie. And then Iron Man 3 actually did! I loved how many of the action sequences required Tony to use ingenuity to solve problems. Killing a helicopter with a piano was also cool. I'm glad they didn't have Tony fight more evil guys in armor. I still don't get how Extremis works, so I'll go with magic. The Extremis woman Tony fought was Ellen Brandt, Man-Thing's ex-wife! I'm really annoyed they used AIM without having a single scene of guys in a clean lab dressed like yellow beekeepers. How do you miss that? I would've liked to see more of the specialty armors. It seemed a little too easy that Tony could pop in & out of them so quick while JARVIS pilotted all of them autonomously. It looked like Killian was hacking Tony's limbs off a few times but Extremis powers can't slice all the way through his armor for plot reasons. Only Tony Stark could be so wealthy that he'd blow up several multi-billion dollar armors on a whim rather than saving them for the next emergency. I'm glad the kid wasn't too cloying & Tony was still a prick to him. The Mandarin was a great parody of Nolan's fake Ra's al Ghul & Bane's voice. That said, I felt it was a mistake not making Iron Man's top foe an actual villain. There was lots of controversy over whether Mandarin was just a Yellow Peril carricature, but instead of adressing that by showing him being a great villain they just took the easy way out by making him a joke. The retcon that Aldrich Killian was always behind the Ten Rings doesn't make sense since they were actual terroristsdoing real terrorist stuff in the first movie. If Killian just co-opted the Ten Rings logo, wouldn't the real Ten Rings disavow the fake Mandarin? Isn't a white guy using an Asian as a patsy the most racist way they could've approached the character? I was confused about the Iron Patriot armor. The War Machine armor was Iron Man Mark II upgraded by Justin Hammer. Tony logs into AIM's files using Rhodey's account (WARMACHINEROX = best password) & implies that AIM worked on the Iron Patriot armor. Given Tony's paranoia, why would he let yet another company tamper with his armor? If AIM upgraded Rhodey's armor, why'd they have to melt him out of the armor instead of using an access override they installed? Of course the VP was evil; he's Miguel Ferrer! Only he could make William Sadler look benevolent by comparisson. Hearing more about Roxxon was nice. The part wher he signed the girl's drawing while having wormhole PTSD was really creepy. The Aldrich Killian posters made him look very Miami Vice so it was funny that he was actually based out of Miami. Him breathing fire was so badass. It was nice to see Pepper be awesome briefly. I was annoyed at the end when they said they "fixed" her. I don't want her to overheat, but Extremis powers are too awesome to give up. I want to see Extremis Pepper helping out the Avengers while Tony makes her dinner.
