Still, Machete was great. I'd wanna see Thanksgiving and Don't, too! Much love for the Grindhouse films. Great fun. Takes me back to the days when I'd go to the drive-in to see movies just like these. |

- Spoiler:
Haven't heard of it, but I will check it out. How is it? Well, you liked the films mentioned.... and you mentioned liking Hobo as well, so this is sort of along those lines. It's less stylized and a bit more gritty, which works to its advantage as an homage. So, I'd say if you like those you may like this. Personally, I hate practically all these films and feel most of the time they don't take themselves seriously enough and try to pack in too much, relying more on referencing films than trying to stand as their own film. I knew this had gained a bit of a following and thought it might change my opinion, which is why I gave it a shot, but I couldn't sit through more than half of it. Still, it's worth it if you are a fan of this newly formed genre. |

| Ah, so it is a Neo-grindhouse film eh? The poster kind of reminds me of this biker gang movie I saw called heck Ride. These films are alright for what they are. I am a big fan of Troma from back in the 80s. So any kind of exploitation film along those lines sets off the nostalgia for me. |

It's basically along those lines of the other films, those 'new grindhouse' ones (not sure what to label them). I'm a huge exploitation fan, but for some reason none of these newer films click with me. |

| To me, they seem like they are trying too hard to copy the originals, and not bringing much new to the table. In that way, they are not as satisfying as the 'classics'. However, some of them are able to impress me with what they can do with the 'exploitation formula'. It's kind of like Bond films. Some of them succeed more than others with the tropes of the formula. |

You're pretty much right. I'd like to see one that works within the genre itself (such as with the story), but doesn't try hard to have a grainy 70s look to it, or doesn't try to be so over-the-top. To me, these newer ones go way more over-the-top and outrageous than the older films ever did, trying to constantly top one another. I'd much rather have a modern take on the genre, instead of what's becoming a lot of re-hashed films the past few years. |

| To me, Shaun of the Dead worked perfectly as both an homage and an actual zombie film. |

| its an homage, but it works as a serious zombie film. 'Hobo' is mostly ok for taking itself seriously, but it takes a wild turn into 'WTF' territory in the last 30 minutes. |

I'll have to see it at some point. Hobo is one I didn't like at all and felt it was too excessive/too stylized/trying too hard to fit into the films that came before. I sort of can see the appeal in how ridiculous these are, though. Still, I'd always rather watch actual 70s films given the choice |

It's probably the genre I'm most influenced by, filmmaking-wise. This film is really visibly low-budget and unpolished, but you could tell the passion is there and the tribute genuine. |

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) Loved the first one. Saw the next two, and wasn't too impressed. Stopped at that point. I did want to see New Nightmare for the concept, but haven't gotten around to it yet. |

| New Nightmare is one of the best of the series. By that point, Freddy had become a joke, spewing dumb one-liners and generally being not scary at all. NN changed that. Wes Craven brings the story to the 'real world', creating a nightmarish story where fact and fiction blur, and Freddy is most definitely scary again. Highly recommended. |

| Yeah, if you liked the first movie, New Nightmare is definitely more in line with that. Freddy's still "funny" but in a more dark, twisted sense. Some of the visuals are amazing as well. |
