| It was bound to happen...per AICN:
“Space:1999” is being upgraded to “Space: 2099”!
ITV Studios America and HDFilms are looking to remake one of the most profoundly stupid sci-fi concepts of the 1970s, transforming the brainchild of Gerry & Sylvia Anderson into a 21st century TV series.
It’s about a space explosion that makes the moon travel so fast it can enter different solar systems, but slow enough that the moonbase colonists can hang out with intergalactic species.
Andy Howell, explain how this happens!
ITV is teaming with HDFilms honcho Jace Hall, who also handled the effects for ABC’s aborted reboot of “V.” |

| Oh my. Well, hopefully they'll ditch the traveling moon thing... though of course then it just becomes a generic space opera in some respects (at least set-up wise.)
Hmmm.... |

| Personally, I'd love to see how they would remake it.
I loved the original series. Well, season 1. Once Freiberger got a hold of it, he turned a decently good and serious sci fi and horror run into typical action adventure. I did like Maya, but that was about it.
I also don't let the science interfere with the enjoyment of a show. A lot of the stuff Steve and Jaime pull off with their bionics wouldn't work without other alterations. The later Star Trek franchises thrive on technobabble for plots and resolutions, but there is a reason it's called techno babble.
Besides, we shouldn't be hearing the rumble of starships flying by, weapons and explosions going off in space... that pretty much eliminates almost every sci fi series and film out there. |

| To me, since i read about this, i thought well what about the delayed 'U.F.O.' movie isn't it about time we got more info about that by now. But if this really happens they musn't change the look of the Eagle, that's if they are involved, and keep the Barry Gray music. The Eagle's design is the main feature of the show and to update them, i believe it'll flop. But i remember watching Mr G. Anderson being interviewed last year about obtaining the green light on a remake of 'Thunderbirds' in which he quoted he'll make it with elements of the original series. Now that'll be cool. |

| I will just have to wait and see. I never watched the new V, but Battlestar was a great show, even though it departed a lot from the original version. Obviously 1999 would no longer work, but at the rate the space program is progressing, 2199 might work better. |
