This isn't really sci-fi (except Flight 714 and the Yeti in Tintin in Tibet), but it's a really cool comic series and there's a movie coming out, and there was a couple TV shows (though the latter seems to be the only available one), and a handful of not-so-major movies.

Anyone else a fan, even if just casually? (I have to admit, I've yet to read all the comics.)

My Brother ruined Tintin for me. He would watch all the episodes before me and proceeded to majorly spoil them for me. It got to the point where I just stopped caring.

Sorry, Jared

just saw the movie- very good! Loved the "geranimo" shout slipped in- gotta know moffat threw in what many would think is a cliche phrase but we all know he put this in there as a docwho nod.

I plan to watch at some point! No real attachment to the series but I'm intrigued to see how it turned out!

Just got back from seeing it. IN 3D!!! (There was three 3D showings and one 2D showing. The 2D was much later and we didn't want to miss Doctor Who, did we?)

The characterizations were spot on for every character but Mr. Saccharine, who was wholly reinvented for the film. The plot was action-filled and contained some scenes not from the original comics, but I could justify why they felt the need to change it up: if you want the same, exact story from the comics, read the comics, or see the animated TV show.

Some people have criticized it for being too fast paced and not being able to connect emotionally to the characters. The thing is, Tintin lives in the moment, while I thought we got enough time to understand Haddock's character. Haddock's a drunk loser and it's Tintin who helps him get back on his feet.

And Snowy is awesome.
