| Am I the only one who thinks there should be some incarnation of K9 on board the TARDIS? Not necessarily in an ever present role, but you would know he's in there somewhere, just in case the Doctor needs him.
I brought it up on IMDb, and some users seemed to like the idea, given that it didn't mean we see the little fellow every episode. |

| I would love the Tin Dog to be back with the Doctor! But he would have a heck of a problem with those stairs in the console room, unless he has hover mode now! |

| Very early on in the process of designing the TARDIS interior, Ed Thomas (I think?) had a K9 coffee table in there, which was basically an old, beat-up K9 used as the base for a round glass top. Good thing they didn't go with that, or the "School Reunion" model might have felt pretty insulted! |

| If Doctor Who ever got the budget, I've always thought a CGI Dog on the body model of a Labrador would work for K-9. |

| Did Sarah Jane's K-9 have hover mode? Those attic stairs could not have been fun to carry him up. |

K9 did have hover mode. He mentioned it twice on the show, but we never actually saw it in action (budget) |

| No K-9 vote from me. Doctor Who doesn't need him. The sonic screwdriver is enough of a plot-device crutch. |

I kind of agree. Although the sonic screwdriver isn't quite as omni-powerful as it was during the worst moments of the RTD era, it does tend to make for the occasional all-too-easy fix, and K-9 has that potential as well. I love K-9's personality, though, so if his offensive abilities were somehow removed, I think I'd enjoy seeing him back in the TARDIS. Smith's Doctor is so whimsical that K-9's reserved rationality would make for a terrific contrast! |

| I dunno, mysterylad. I think it's worse now. Seemingly everytime the 11th Doctor walks into a room, he whips his sonic out and "sonics" or whatever.
"What are you doing?" "Sonic-ing."
...and stuff like that.
Ugh.

| At least the Psychic Paper doesn't show up nearly as often. Maybe four or five times last season instead of twice every episode? |

Combo tricorder and transporter pattern buffer. You can solve almost any difficult problem with that buffer |

Ugh.
I guess "worse" is subjective. Using it as a means of exposition or advancing the plot (like you describe...or, if you prefer, "the tricorder method") doesn't bother me; that's what sci-fi gadgets are for. It's the using it as means of resolving plot points that bothers me, and it's why JNT got rid of it during Davison's tenure. Anyway, the current series tends to lean heavily on the tricorder method, but the RTD era used it as a magic fix for a LOT of plot points. But this is one of those discussions that will go nowhere, and the thread is supposed to be about K-9...who is awesome, but has a frakkin' raygun in his face. Ditch the raygun, and I'd love to see him aboard the TARDIS again. |

| I suddenly have this bizarre mental image of "babbling" Dalek Caan out of his casing and riding K-9 like he were some kind of electric pony, much to the robotic dog's dismay.
Sincerely,
