Dan Mindel has been announced as the cinematographer for Star Wars VII. According to him, the film will have a "retro" feel which is VERY good news! Mindel also said that they're filming on 35ml instead of digital which means it will look rather reminiscent of the Original Trilogy! Apparently they're going to use as little CGI as possible, too. I'm very pleased to hear this indeed!

Once again, it looks likie they are making all the right choices for Ep 7. Can't wait!!! I have picked up several of the new retro style small figures from walmart. They are posed pretty neutrally, and have only 5 points of articulation, BUT they are 5.99 each!!! Or 2 packs for 10 bucks!!! I have them spread around on my SW bookshevles. I had to pick up the Mace Windu, just because it is the angriest facial sculpt I have ever seen on him.

Yeah, but why does Leia have childhood memories of Padme?
My interpretation has always been that they were just false memories, or perhaps Bail and his wife showed her pictures/footage of Padme from her time in the senate? Meh, either way, George messed up.
Personally I have no problem with the prequels though. There's massive room for improvement and it'd be kinda cool if they'd go back and redo them properly and just pretend these prequels aren't canon, but for what they are, I enjoyed them. Maybe that's just because I'm a youngling and thus impure... But yeah.
Thing is, I think it started out right and then they changed it. If you look at the funeral scene for Padme, there is a young girl right behind the body in the procession... I think that's meant to be Leia.

Why is her funeral like 2 or 3 years after her death though? And why is Luke still a newborn in the subsequent scenes?

I think the point is that, originally, the intent was that Luke was hidden and Leia stayed with her until she died a few years later, to keep with what Leia told Luke in RotJ. But then they realized that they new stuff that had unthinkingly been put in would mean that Anakin would not become Darth Vader if she was still alive and he had a chance to get to her... so they decided that her death needed to happen right away.

This just occurred to me today that kinda made me laugh:
Darth Vader is running around in a breathing apparatus suit for the last 20 years or so. But meanwhile, at the time of his accident, there was the technology to clone new body parts. For example lungs and eyes and skin. Why didn't he just get that stuff replaced? He could be running around with a Hayden Christensen wig and no one would be any the wiser...

There were deleted scenes with Padme's family, and the girl is her younger sister. I think they are on the Bluray.
At about 4 minutes in.
Besides, Padme's body was made to look still pregnant to hide the fact that the babies were born. And right after the funeral, Leia is shown with Bail and his wife on Alderaan.

Palpatine deliberately put Vader in low-grade cybernetics and life support systems to weaken him, so he wouldn't betray Palpatine and usurp him.
Granted that begs the question of why Palpatine saved him in the first place, but eh. Cusp of his greatest victory, he probably felt like sharing it with someone.
I do recall there was a EU story where Vader was offered the chance of getting upgraded to better cybernetics, but it would have meant a small period of time when his life support systems weren't functioning and there was the possibility of death, so Vader refused.

Ah... well, that just takes it back "someone" having forgot that Leia believes her mother died when she was little girl (about 5 to keep with the time the average person's memories begin)... a thing that, surely, her adopted parents would not have let her grow to adulthood believing if it was untrue.
