| What an amazing script that could only be written by a talented writer who could have the Doctor, Clara, The Master, and the Cybermen all do absolutely nothing for a whole hour.
Seriously, though, Danny Pink seemed the one who actually did any more than just stand around and talk. Also, the Cybermen were defeated by love. Again!
I would have missed Danny, if they had tried to develop him as a character. One thing I did notice was that all the characters who died in the episode were either women (Osgood and the Master) or minorities (Danny and the general on the plane.) I'm not accusing Moffat of anything, but there goes any diversity in Doctor Who.
And we have Santa to top it off. Of course, he's probably really an escaped Time Lord, or worse, actually Santa Clause. Sigh. |

If I had to write this episode, "Santa" would turn out to be the Meddling Monk with his "Bag of Toys" being his disguised Tardis.
Imagine the Doctor stranded at the North Pole with his Tardis frozen in a block of ice as a gift from the Monk before he escapes.
A meddler who is more mischievous and laughable than evil and murderous like the Master.
And we could contain the comedy and camp of Who to his appearances and leave the rest of the season with more serious Sci Fi action adventure.

I was actually waiting for that revelation at the end of the show (but got Santa, instead). |

| gosh sorry been a long time - miss everyone….been busy. Can I be honest?- I think the new series can't get the cybermen right. I feel it is time to get them a proper rest for a while.
As for the whole series- I would grade it a B. Strong opening…loved flatline and listen- just feel we need more doctor, less clara.
Really not a fan of missy- of course I come from the school of a proper master like delgado- the one and only…so slightly biased. Just felt like it was ohhhh….lets do a woman master…cool! Too Tim Burtonesque for me. O.k. it is an idea to make the master a woman- but let's give her some substance- not pantomime missy.
Capaldi- is great in his grumpy glory. Hoping they will add more mystery back to the doc as they are promising next year. |

| So...considering the revelation about "Santa" in "Last Christmas"...should his cameo during the credits be considered storyline or fourth-wall trailer? Was the Doctor dreaming or was it a gimmick promo for the Christmas special? Dammit, Moff, don't leave us hanging. This controversy is ten times worse than a hundred female Masters. |
